THE organisers of T in the Park have squashed rumours that they'll be moving the festival from its site in Balado.

While the festival has planning permission to remain at Balado until the end of 2013, there have been rumours going round that organisers DF Concerts were looking for alternative sites.

Health and safety chiefs have previously warned that thousands of lives could be at risk if the BP Forties pipeline, which runs through the site, is ruptured, leading to a huge explosion and a fireball 220 metres in diameter.

However, while acknowledging chances of a rupture are small, the public safety body is pushing for organisers DF Concerts to find another location for the festival.

T in the Park has been held at Balado for the last 15 years, and this week a spokesperson confirmed, "We have no desire to leave Kinross.

"We're currently focused on delivering the event's 20th year in 2013, but as always, we're in discussion with all of the key local stakeholders and partners with regards to the planning for future years."
