Pars deny boardroom split

DUNFERMLINE Athletic have denied there has been a boardroom split while Jim Leishman insisted he was staying and would give "100 per cent backing" to the club.
Reports this morning said that seven directors - vice chairman Rodney Shearer, Kip McBay, Craig McWhirter, Iain Jones, Steve Curtis, Bill Hodgins and Leishman - had all resigned and walked away from the club.
But Pars said this afternoon that only Hodgins has left the club and that while the remaining six are no longer on the board, they "will continue to play an active role in the management of the club".
The club's board has now been reduced from 11 to four - made up of main shareholder Gavin Masterton, chairman John Yorkston, Tracey Martin and Karen Masterton.
A statement said, "A recent restructuring of the DAFC board designed to reduce the existing cost base and help generate additional income, resulted in the stepping down of some directors, including Mr Leishman.
"However, all directors, apart from former DAFC managing director, Bill Hodgins, who parted company with the club this week, will continue to play an active role in the management of the club, either through DAFC or its 100 per cent owned subsidiary, Black and White."
The statement included a quote from Leishman which said, "I am giving my unreserved backing to DAFC and continue to be heavily involved in the management of the club as well as in an honorary director capacity."
Speaking exclusively to Press Sport, he added, "I'm still doing the same duties, the only difference is that I'm not a full director of the club, but an honorary director.
"I work closely with Craig McWhirter and Stephen Wright, who are doing a great job with the youths, and I enjoy working with them and also with Jim Jefferies and the senior squad.
"Under Jim, Dunfermline have a team which is playing attractive football, I'm enjoying my football and I will continue to support them in any way I can."
The club statement continued, "Rodney Shearer, previous vice-chair of the DAFC board, confirmed that he too will continue to play an active role in the club.
"Jim Leishman, in addition to Chris (Kip) McBay and Craig McWhirter, will spearhead youth development through Black and White, a structure which has been in place for some time."
McWhirter said, "Having a youth specific board allows us to focus on youth matters alone - the SFA are delighted with our approach."
Chairman John Yorkston said, "We are pleased that a number of directors will continue to be involved in the club; whether this will be in a board capacity or not has yet to be finalised.
"They are all life-long supporters of DAFC who share a common goal - to return DAFC to the SPL as well as building a business which supports this."

Report commentwhat iv been told is the major shareholder is due 11m and he asked for it back cos his own company is 30m in the red.they also wanted the game v falkirk brought forward from april so they could get the gate money to help them out but falkirk refused.dont know if the first parts true but i know for a fact the second one is.
