MORE youths will have a chance to shine on stage as a popular theatre company celebrates moving into its new home.

The Limelight Studio has opened in Parkneuk, after Councillor Bob Young and Provost Jim Leishman cut the ribbon for the new premises on Saturday.

A new youth theatre group, 'Limelight Youth', has been started for youths aged 11-18 and this month 'Limelight Kidz' begins for younger children.

Bobby Mitchell, Limelight Productions company manager, said, "The help of individuals giving up their time and expertise to help us lay floors, paint walls, put up fixtures, scrub, clean and generally just run about for us has been amazing.

"There are so many people to thank, it's quite humbling." A donation from the Mary Leishman Foundation helped bring the studio up to scratch.

Bobby explained, "The Foundation was instrumental in allowing us to bring the studio up to standard and help us lay the dance floor with some very generous grant aid." The Dance Academy has agreed to move from their former residence at the Baldridgeburn institute into the new studio.

Bobby added, "Teaming up with the Dance Academy is a fantastic opportunity for both parties and forges closer links between the two organisations for future collaboration." Limelight Productions was founded in 2005 and have become one of the biggest amateur theatre companies in the area.

More than 3000 people enjoyed their production of The Sound of Music at the Alhambra in October last year.

A second open day will take place from 1-4pm this Sunday. All welcome.
