THE PARS share issue - due to be launched yesterday (Wednesday) - has been delayed by a few days because of "one or two minor amendments".

The club said that to allow as many fans as possible to become shareholders, a stake could be bought for as little as 100 and it was hopeful of a "high uptake".

Firms and individuals such as Vets Now, the Purvis Group - which will buy 10,000 of shares - and Scottish Cup-winning captain Roy Barry are backing the share issue.

And its importance to the club's very survival was stressed in a statement, "There remains a critical short term plan for the club to survive and DAFC remains firmly of the belief that all supporters of the Pars need to get behind the share issue - unless we do so then there simply will be no club."

The club said it hoped The Pars Community and Pars Alive would back the share issue and added, "We have also been in touch with our ex-directors who have expressed their support going forward and we are grateful to them for all that they have contributed to the club in the past."

It continued, "The share issue is being prepared by a highly-reputable financial services company and will be fully compliant with all the strict and stringent regulations which exist when any offer such as this comes in to the public domain.

"Despite recent distractions, the share prospectus is all but finalised but further to a detailed review by our financial advisors and legal experts on Tuesday afternoon one or two minor amendments now need to be made to the final document.

"At this time we fully expect the finalised prospectus to be published shortly."

Outlining the share offer, the club explained, "The most important people are the fans who have supported the Pars through good times and bad times and we now want to enable them to have a say in the running of the club and take up positions on the board.

"By pricing shares as low as possible we hope that great numbers of our supporters will grasp this chance to invest in the future of the club and also help in shaping the future direction of Dunfermline Athletic.

"By offering places on the board we want to demonstrate our willingness to engage as fully as possible with fans.

"We look forward to their input in the decision-making process of a great club which we hope will go on to take what we believe is its rightful place among the top teams in Scottish football."

Bob Purvis, of shirt sponsors the Purvis Group, said, "In order to improve the financial circumstances of the club going forward, we will be encouraging other companies to come on board and become shareholders."

Barry, who is chair of the Pars' Former Players Association, said, "We are prepared to do anything to help the club move forward and get out of the situation it has found itself in.

"This now seems to be the way forward for the club and that's why I'm here to provide our assistance and support."

Richard Dixon, managing director of Vets Now, said, "We would urge the entire local community to get behind the club and its forthcoming share issue at this challenging time and support the clubs with a single positive voice, helping ensure a strong football club and community resource for many years into the future."
