NHS Fife have revealed that they are investigating a number of suspected and confirmed measles cases.

The public health department is working with local GPs and community health partnerships to find un-vaccinated people who have been in contact with people suffering from the illness.

Dr Charles Saunders, consultant in public health medicine said, "MMR is a safe and effective vaccine that prevents measles, mumps and rubella.

"We are currently working to identify individuals who would benefit from this vaccination on the back of a number of suspected and confirmed measles cases.

"However, we would encourage all young people who have not had two doses of MMR to seek immunisation from their GP."

Symptoms of measles include a runny nose, high fever and tiny white spots in the mouth followed by a rash.

If you think you have measles contact your GP or NHS 24.
