BIN lorries are getting quieter according to Fife Council, who have taken delivery of nine new bin lorries.

Local firm - Heil fitted out the new bin lorries with technology which reduces noise and improves fuel efficiency during loading and packing.

Roddy Mann, senior manager (environmental operations), said, “These new bin lorries will make a big difference to the service we are providing now and well into the future.

“Some of our older bin lorries were becoming unreliable. With these new vehicles we’ll continue delivering a high standard of service for Fifers.

“An added bonus is these new vehicles use less fuel and produce less noise.” Kevin Crowder, Heil Farid sales and marketing director, added, “We are delighted to work in partnership with Fife Council in their quest for greater efficiency and cost saving of their refuse collection service.

“Our PowerLink range of refuse collection vehicles can provide ‘win-win’ economies with increased levels of performance.

“We are delighted that Fife Council is already appreciating the cost savings and performance of our vehicles.” Safety is also a feature of these new lorries. Cameras are fitted to all sides of the vehicle, giving the driver a 360 degree viewing angle. This reduces blind spots, so cyclists and pedestrians are easy to see.
