WEST Fife scooped the majority of awards at the Beautiful Scotland Awards 2014 at the start of the month.

Five silver medal certificates and a silver gilt were awarded for local efforts to brighten up communities.

‘Well deserved’ The awards were held as part of the Dundee Flower and Food Festival on Friday 5th September.

Dunfermline Delivers won silver in the Business Improvement District category, Cairneyhill in Bloom won silver in the Large Village category, Dunfermline in Bloom won a silver gilt in the Small City category, Townhill Community Council scooped a silver in the Small Village Category and Low Valleyfield took home a silver award in the Wee Village category.

Provost of Fife, Jim Leishman, said, “Fife did brilliantly in the Beautiful Scotland campaign.

“We brought home five trophies, including the council winning the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Award.

“Congratulations to everyone involved, this national recognition is well deserved. So many communities in Fife are now in the running for these awards year after year and I’d like to pay tribute to every single group and volunteer who is helping to make Fife beautiful.”
