EVEN THE best laid plans sometimes go awry, and for some unhappy Fife voters this was certainly the case when they were turned away from polling stations because they were registered to vote by post.

Some Fife postal voters who hadn’t received their postal packages turned up at their polling stations to try to vote, only to be told that they couldn’t do so. Fife Council explained that they needed to ensure that people would not be voting twice, and reminded voters that they had until as late as yesterday to pick up another postal pack if they hadn’t received one.
