Teams across the Kingdom have worked since yesterday afternoon preparing the roads to make them safe for those travelling in the area.
In anticipation of snow and ice, gritters treated the ‘Primary’ roads from 4pm yesterday (Monday).
They continued through the night to 8am this morning spreading salt.
Fife Council continue to treat the ‘Primary’ roads today (Tuesday) in areas where Fife has been hit the hardest, with additional resources treating ‘Secondary’ roads and footways.
Bob Mclellan head of Transportation and Environment said, "Our focus is to keep all the main road and bus routes clear, as well as clearing footpaths outside schools, hospitals and main shopping areas.
“We’re well prepared with good reserves of salt should further treatments be needed. We’ll continue to monitor and take action to keep all main roads and bus routes as clear as possible.” You can find more information on Fife Councils gritting routes and priorities by visiting http://www.fifedirect.org.uk/gritting.
- Motorways and trunk roads, such as the A92, are the responsibility of BEAR (Scotland) Ltd.
