Kids from Busy Bees were invited to Pets at Home to learn about different kinds of animals as well as getting a close encounter with some of the furry friends.

Early years educator at Busy Bees, Jason Fyvie, thought it was a “wonderful” experience for the children.

“There were six of them that came along and they were sat down in an area that was prepared for them to see the animals,” he explained. “They got to see a hamster, a rabbit and a guinea pig, and the hamster had a run around in its ball.

“The staff talked about how the animals are cared for and they handed them around so the children got to clap them and hold them.” According to Jason, the kids were fully enamoured with their new friends and he thinks the experience will help them if they get pets themselves.

“It was fantastic for them, they had a great time,” he said. “A lot of them didn’t have pets at home so hadn’t seen these kind of animals that close before. It’s a really good introduction to animals for them so they can understand the way they need someone to care for them.

“They’ve all been asking when they get to go back! Pets at Home told them they can come back some time and they also got stuff to take away like books and stickers. It was a really good time.” Tommy Campbell, store manager at Pets at Home, said, “The free workshops are a chance for the pet lovers of Dunfermline to engage with our colleagues who offer tips and advice on pet care, whilst making the workshops fun and interactive.

“To make sure the children got the chance to be as hands-on as possible, they were also given the chance to meet the stars of the workshop.”
