The award provides funding for clinicians to undertake research and activities which will enhance patient care.

Alison Scott was director of nursing, quality and planning in Fife in the early 90s and following her death in 1996 her husband established this award in her memory.

Anne McEwan, a team leader in the vascular nurse team, was awarded £700 to undertake a study tour of a cardiac rehab service in Belfast. It is hoped this will positively influence services within Dunfermline and West Fife as well as furthering Anne’s own professional development.

Linsay Brassington, a specialist psychological practitioner, was also awarded £700 to attend a conference in Berlin.

Attending this event will provide Linsay with a good environment for her doctoral research alongside internationally-renowned training workshops.

Allan Burns, chairman of NHS Fife, said, “I am delighted to present this year’s Alison Scott Memorial Award to these two deserving recipients.

“Both have shown a real willingness to develop and enhance the care they provide and their experiences will benefit patients here in Fife.”
