THERE was good news for The Wee Restaurant’s owner, Craig Wood, as he was shortlisted for Chef of the Year at the Catering in Scotland Excellence Awards.

The restaurant itself is no stranger to the awards, having picked up the accolade for Newcomer of the Year in 2008, but this is the first time that Craig has entered the category to be crowned best chef in Scotland.

Open to anyone working in Scottish catering and hospitality, the award aims to highlight those who have consistently raised the bar of culinary excellence in Scotland.

Craig will be up against some top competition, with the category opened up to five shortlisted nominees for the first time, including Darin Campbell, executive head chef at Andy Murray’s Cromlix Hotel, and TV chef Mark Greenaway, who appeared on BBC2’s Great British Menu.

The awards will take place at the Hilton Glasgow on 21st May.
