Pars stay in First Division
THE SPL board have decided to invite Dundee, and not Dunfermline, to replace Rangers in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League this season.
A meeting was held at Hampden this morning and a statement released confirming that the Dens Park side will play in the SPL, which kicks off in a few weeks time.
It was also confirmed that Rangers will play in the Third Division.
A statement from the SPL read, "It was agreed that Dundee FC would be invited to fill the space vacated by Rangers FC in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
"It was agreed that the SPL would work with the Scottish FA, SFL and Rangers to facilitate Rangers FC taking their place in SFL Division 3 this season."

Report commentNothing to do ith mustering support. There was no mandate to promote a second team from the 1st Division, so if a team were to drop out of the SPL for whatever reason, then surely it should just be a case of no relegation, i thought it would have been that simple.

Report commentDunfermilne were relegated before Rangers went into administration, so the right decision was made, and Dunfermilne were not good enough.

Report comment@west73calder, though I hail from the same area as you, I have to disagree with your statements.
I followed the Pars for the two seasons prior to promotion to the SPL, and in many away games I attended, there was a good away support by the Pars fans, to the extent that at many stadia, Pars fans were in the majority.
I also observed consistently in the games at Dens Park, we had at least as many supporters as Dundee, who do have a decent travelling support.
However, your claim "How many fans could dunfermline muster to make it so?????I feel the right team went up, they do have a support" is a complete nonsense as you have provided no proof to back up your assertion.
I do personally believe that the Pars will benefit from a year of rebuilding in the SFL Div1, so good luck to Dundee, however, I believe that the SPL's decision stinks, as does their inactivity and delaying tactics throughout the whole Rangers administration/liquidation fiasco!

Report commentIf ivan k checks back the attendances at both grounds during last season, then you will find out who had the most people through the turnstiles at most games.

Report comment@west73calder, you don't make an assertion, then tell someone else to do your work for you and look up the answer to your assertion!
If your argument has merit, back it up or are you taking the SPL approach!
sic "We're no going to tell you the reason for our decision!"
Shameful! No wonder ordinary fans are losing patience with the SPL and SFA!

Dunfermline werent good enogh to stay in the SPL & Dundee werent good enough to get promoted, thats ALL fact.
The whole point is, who truely deserved the place vacated by RFC ?
There shouldent have been any relegation, why people cant see that is beyond me, nothing to do with how many fans, or how good each team is, there shouldent have been any relegation.

Report commentSad fact is, the Pars just aren't good enough for the SPL.
It's been shown many times.
It's not the faullt of the team, they just need more paying fans to go through the gates.
Increase in revenue will make them more able to compete with the bigger teams.

Report commentDunfermline fans have been deserting the club in droves for seasons so to use the spl or sfa is a poor excuse. We have never recovered from the Munro / leishman factor and now god help us and the rest of Scotland without Rangers.
