A MEMBER of a serious organised crime gang who was caught with a mobile phone in his cell has been jailed for four months.

Anthony Woods, 44, described as the “electronics expert” for the nine-strong mob was in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He pled guilty, through his lawyer, to having a mobile phone in his cell at Barlinnie prison on January 22 this year.

Woods was sentence to four months.

He was jailed in January for 11 years and one month after pleading guilty to having roles in “serious organised crime” at the High Court in Glasgow.

But earlier this month he had his sentence cut by 28 months.

His co-accused Michael Bowman, 30, who admitted the same charge, had his seven year sentence reduced by six months.

A third gang member Barry O’Neill, 37, who admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine failed to have his seven and a half year sentence reduced.

Woods, Bowman and O’Neill were part of the crime gang who dealt in drugs, firearms, serious violence and dirty money.

The gang were branded the “most sophisticated in Scotland”.

David Sell, 50, was jailed for 15 years and eight months for abduction and torture of a known drug dealer.

Francis Mulligan, 41, was given eight years and 324 days for “serious organised crime” and Gerard Docherty, 42, 10 years and six months after a shooting at a house in Edinburgh.

Mark Richardson, 30, was hit with an eight year, nine month sentence and Steven McArdle, 33, was jailed for seven years and 100 days after they were each caught with Glock handguns.

Ex-army war veteran Martyn Fitzsimmons, 37, was locked up for 10 and a half years for having a similar weapon as well as ammo and £36,000 of dirty money.
