ANOTHER video has emerged of the moment former Rangers player Nacho Novo was subjected to abuse from a Celtic fan while walking through an airport.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, Novo confronted the Hoops supporter at Belfast International Airport who was singing: “I hope you die in your sleep, Nacho Novo.”

The incident caused outrage among both Celtic and Rangers fans after it was filmed and posted on social media.

It also prompted East Belfast FC to blast the man’s actions in a statement which said: “This is not acceptable in this day (and) age.”

Now, a Twitter page has shared footage of Novo, 39, “being threatened and verbally abused by fans,” shedding more light on the events leading up to the original video.

In it, a group of men can be seen following Novo and goading him as they shout “come on” followed by “go away.”

Novo can be heard saying: “Come on, f********.”

One of the men then locks foreheads with the footballer as he appears to challenge the Spaniard to a fight.

The video has, so far, received over 188,000 views, with fans from both sides slamming the man for his actions, insisting it’s “definitely not the Celtic way.”

“In order to clarify the situation, CosyRoof can confirm that the individual featured in the footage had previously been engaged as a self-employed contractor for CosyRoof, but will no longer be providing any further services for CosyRoof.

“No other individual either associated with or employed by CosyRoof was present at the time of the incident and CosyRoof, as a company, abhors the behaviour depicted in the footage and adopts a zero tolerance approach to behaviour of this nature.”

Novo had travelled to Belfast to attend East Belfast FC academy’s prizegiving day for players aged 11 and 12.

The club called on the Police Service of Northern Ireland to investigate.

Novo played for east Belfast side Glentoran in 2016-17.
