A DAY of fun and games is expected at High Valleyfield Children's Gala on Saturday August 13.

This year's Gala has a parade which will leave from the Valleyfield Co-op at 11am and arrive at the park in Preston Crescent for 12pm.

A host of activities and games running will take place between 12-4pm and will include a variety of shows and rides, inflatables, stalls, face painting and much more.

Jade Hume, a member on the gala committee, said: "It's a busy time as it's all go, go, go. We're making sure everything is in place for a great day. We're hoping it's good weather as it's not been a great summer. We've been lucky for the last few years, as it hasn't rained at all. The Gala is a big day for Valleyfield. We're a small mining community and it's the highlight of the summer holiday's for a lot of the kids. They can get a new outfit for the day and they have the chance to really run free and have fun for the four hours in the park."

Wristbands can be bought on the day for £10, which gives you access to all the rides and shows during the gala.
