A CAIRNEYHILL sex predator who carried out a rape at a hospital's nurses residence is facing a jail term.

Andrew Ferguson, 35, of Station Road, attacked his victim at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital in 2000 before going on to rape another woman years later.

During his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, he denied a of sex charges against him.

But a jury convicted him of eight offences including rape, attempted rape, indecent assault and assault against three victims between 2000 and 2014.

Two of the women he assaulted were sleeping when he sexually assaulted them.

The court heard that Ferguson carried out a sex attack and rape on the woman at the nurse's residence during which he took off her lower clothes.

He then raped a second victim at houses in Inverkeithing and Cairneyhill.

Ferguson assaulted a third woman at an address in Inverkeithing when he kissed her and tried to put his hand inside her clothes.

The trial judge, Lord McEwan, called for a background report.

Ferguson was put on the sex offenders' register and remanded in custody ahead of sentencing next month.
