A MAN rode a quad bike erratically through the centre of Saline when more than twice the drink drive limit.

Fortunately, no-one was injured by the “stupid” antics of Kristopher Hunter apart from himself.

Hunter, 23, formerly of Saline and now of Lismore Avenue, Kirkcaldy, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on September 26 last year in Main Street, Saline, he drove an unregistered quad bike after consuming excess alcohol.

His reading was 124 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 50 milligrammes.

Depute fiscal Alisdair Shaw told the court that the incident occurred at around midday.

“The accused was seen driving a quad bike in an erratic manner from a nearby park on to Main Street in Saline,” said the depute.

“A witness spotted this and contacted police as he was concerned for the well-being of the public.

“The police arrived and eventually caught up with the accused when he had injured himself as a result of his driving and he required medical assistance.”

Defence solicitor Danielle Varela said: “He had been with friends. It was his friends who had been using the quad bike. It was a poor decision for him to use it.

“He was injured as a result of this stupid decision and he is thankful nobody else was hurt.”

Sheriff Peter Anderson told Hunter: “What you did was dangerous to other people. You know how dangerous it was because you yourself were injured.”

Hunter was fined £300 and banned from driving for two years.
