One West Fife youth theatre group showed they were a class act after swooping five trophies in the Fife District Round of the Scottish Community Drama Association’s One-Act Festival 2014.

The Aberdour Players Youth Theatre, made up of 27 young people aged between 11 and 18, secured the accolades after their performance of ‘Hard to Swallow’, by Mark Wheeller.

And there was no stopping their winning streak after the judges crowned them winners of the categories: District Youth First Place, District Adult First Place, Best Ensemble Playing, Best Moment in Theatre (Youth) and the Highest Overall Production Mark.

Their success means they will now be entered into the Divisional Youth Final and the Divisional Final later this month.

Youth Theatre Leader, Natalie Hardie, said, “It’s fantastic! Our team have worked incredibly hard to put this show together and myself and the other leaders, Fiona and Scott, could not be prouder of the massive achievement of this very talented cast. “There is more hard work in front of us to get ready for the next youth and adult rounds but we have complete faith in our team!” The youngsters, all from Aberdour, Burntisland, Dalgety Bay and Rosyth, are also working on their upcoming production of ‘Long Joan Silver’ which will be performed at Aberdour Primary School on 28th and 29th March.
