POLICE have denied speculation that a body has been found in the search for missing Cairneyhill teenager Hazel North.

Within the last few minutes a Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed that inquiries were still being conducted in the search for Hazel (19) at an address in Northcraig Road, Kilmarnock as part of a missing person investigation.

The spokeswoman told the Press, "There has been a lot of speculation that a body has been found but that is certainly not the case.

"It is still very much a missing person investigation and as yet there is nothing to suggest otherwise.

"Inquiries are still ongoing at the address in Northcraig Road, Kilmarnock.

"Hazel has not been traced yet and she has not come forward. We are still appealing for anyone who may have any information about her whereabouts to come forward or indeed herself to come forward to confirm she is safe and well." Hazel was last seen by her sister on Tuesday 4th March, when she told her that she was travelling to Kilmarnock to meet a friend.

She has not contacted her family since then, and has now been reported missing.

Hazel is described as 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with a fair complexion, and shoulder-length blonde hair.

Inquiries are ongoing in both Dunfermline and Kilmarnock to trace Hazel, and police have appealed for the public's help in tracing the teen.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts, or who may have seen her since 4th March should call Police Scotland on 101, or Kilmarnock Police Office on 01563 505000.
