POLICE searching for missing Cairneyhill teenager Hazel North are investigating a sighting of her in Stranraer on 18th March.

Police say the 19-year-old was sighted on Tuesday 18th March around midday in Coronation Drive. Hazel is thought to have been in the company of another woman and officers are keen for this woman to come forward and speak to them.

This woman is described as around 5 ft 8 inches in height, with a medium build and short dark hair in a bob style. She was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and dark blue jogging trousers. On Friday , officers conducted a search at a house in Northcraig Road, Kilmarnock.

The search continued on Saturday morning and concluded that afternoon.

Officers have also been carrying out door-to-door enquiries. Extensive enquiries continue in Dunfermline, Kilmarnock and Stranraer to locate Hazel and officers are in the process of reviewing CCTV images in an effort to find out more information about her whereabouts.

In a statement, Police Scotland said, "Her family has grown increasingly concerned for her and just want to know she is safe and well. " Hazel is described as 5ft 8 inches in height and of slim build with a fair complexion. She has brown hair.

Hazel is originally from Dunfermline and has also lived in Stranraer. Superintendent Neil Kerr said, “We are currently following a number of lines of inquiry, speaking to family and friends to ascertain more information about Hazel and as to where she may be. "Her family is obviously concerned by the lack of contact from her and they just want to know she is safe and well. "If anyone has any information which could help us locate Hazel, please do contact us.” Anyone with information or knowledge as to Hazel’s whereabouts is asked to contact officers at Kilmarnock Police Office on the police, non-emergency number, 101.
