POLICE have cordoned off part of a Kilmarnock country park in the search for missing Cairneyhill teenager Hazel North.
A section of Dean Park has been blocked off and specialist search and forensic officers will be searching and carrying out an excavation of the area today.
On Friday, police searched a house in Northcraig Road, which is two streets away from the park.
Hazel (19) was last seen by her family on Tuesday 4th March, when she told her sister that she was going to Kilmarnock to meet a friend.
The teenager used to live in Stranraer and police said there had been a sighting of her in Coronation Drive around midday on 18th March.
She is thought to have been in the company of another woman and officers are keen for this woman to come forward and speak to them.
The woman is described as around 5 ft 8 inches in height, with a medium build and short dark hair in a bob style. She was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and dark blue jogging trousers.
Anyone with information or knowledge as to Hazel’s whereabouts is asked to contact officers at Kilmarnock Police Office on the police non-emergency number, 101.
