THE funeral of tragic Cairneyhill teenager Hazel North will take place on Wednesday.

Hazel (19) was reported missing last month, three weeks after she had contact with her family. Her body was found in Dean Park in Kilmarnock on 24th March.

In a notice to the Press, Hazel’s family said she was “a much-loved daughter of Graham and Rosina, beloved sister, auntie and a devoted granddaughter. Dance hard, sing loud.” Hazel, who went to Stranraer Academy, was last seen by her family on 4th March when she told her sister that she was going to Kilmarnock to meet a friend.

She was reported missing on 21st March and police made the grim discovery three days later.

John James Davis (25) has appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court accused of her murder.

He also faces charges of assault to injury, assault to severe injury and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Hazel’s funeral will be held at St Andrew’s Erskine Parish Church at 1pm, heading to Dunfermline Cemetery at 1.45pm.
