ABERDOUR'S Silver Sands and Hawkcraig parks have won the prestigious Green Flag Award for 2014.
The parks are among four in Fife to receive the accolade, awarded by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful in recognition of quality green spaces.
To receive the Green Flag, Silver Sands and Hawkcraig were judged on eight criteria, including conservation and heritage; community involvement; good management; sustainability; cleanliness and maintenance.
Councillor Gavin Yates, Fife Council's executive spokesperson for community health and wellbeing, said, "These awards are a great endorsement of the work of council staff and friends' groups across the Kingdom and I hope Fifers young and old will take a trip to appreciate some of our wonderful parks during the summer - weather permitting of course!"
