AN exciting four days of arts, culture and music is in store at the Culross Festival this week.

Kicking it off on Thursday 14th August is ‘God’s Official’, Robert Farquhar’s anarchic comedy about inept kidnappers who nab a football referee.

Staged by the Bowhouse Drama Group, the play offers a new theatrical experience for festival-goers and will be performed at 7.30pm at The Stables. Tickets £7.50.

Friday 18th August is ceilidh night, with the Royal Marquee on the village green hosting Mark Grundy’s Jiggers’ Ceilidh Band from 7.45pm. An Indian supper and bar will be included to keep the energy levels up! Tickets £15, under-15s £5, family (per household) £30.

The big event on Saturday 19th August is ‘The Gig on the Green’, from 2.30pm, featuring seven bands who will take to the stage for an hour each. Making an appearance are Passing Lights (2.30pm), Deek Jackson and The Circus Fantasticus (3.30pm), Big River (4.30pm), The Deal Blues Explosion (5.30pm), Kiwi and the Bandits (6.30pm), Hair O The Dug (7.30pm) and Cow Cow Boogie (8.30-10.45pm).

Sunday 20th August features a packed programme, starting with the fabulous Children’s Book Fayre at the Royal Marquee with authors Mike Nicholson and Bob Harris and storyteller Kate Walker from 10.30am-1.30pm. Tickets £5.

Hit the high notes from 3-4.45pm, as Classical Musicians Scotland present The Ivor Novello Story by John Cairney in the beautiful settings of the Abbey House gardens. Create the perfect afternoon by bringing a picnic from 2pm and soak up the music and views over the Forth. Tickets £15.

The festival closes in Culross Abbey with a performance by Hardwood’s Guitar Jazz Folk Fusion from 8-10.30pm. Tickets £7.50.
