A NEW path from Blairhall to Balgownie Wood has been officially opened.

Stan Welch, chair of West Fife Woodlands gave the opening address at the ceremony.

Joan Geddes, a former manager with Fife Council who was closely involved with the group in its early days, cut the ribbon weaved with ivy to the path.

Stan Welch said, “The opening of the path was a great day, we had a big crowd of representatives and also members of the community.

“The walk will be used for cyclists, walkers and horse riding and in the future is to connect to Devilla Forest.

“We have noticed, so far, a huge interest in the path and hopefully with our plans to link five different woodlands it will be a very popular walk.” Attendees at the path opening ceremony enjoyed refreshments at the Shiresmill Therapy Riding Centre.
