ROAD improvements to the tune of £440,000 are set to take place on the A985 over six nights next week.

The main link between Kincardine and Cairneyhill, which carries more than 9500 vehicles daily, will shut between 8pm-6am from Monday to allow extensive resurfacing work to take place.

Transport Scotland say that it is necessary to "extend the operational life" of the road and will cut the number of short and medium-term roadworks required.

A single diversion will be in place from the Higgins Neuk roundabout to the A977 Killbagie roundabout and the A907 Gartarry roundabout before returning via the A994 Cairneyhill roundabout to the A985.

Stagecoach services between the two villages will also be affected, with the X24, X26 and X27 diverted via the A907 and unable to serve Crossford, Cairneyhill or Westfield outside Kincardine. Stagecoach are advising passengers on these dates to make connections to Dunfermline Bus Station or Kincardine High Street but have confirmed that local routes 8, 8A, 9 and F15 will still operate as normal.
