PUPILS at Inzievar Primary School made a donation of 50 bags of presents last Friday morning for youngsters who may otherwise have gone without this Christmas.
The Fife-wide ‘Spirit of Christmas’ appeal grew out of a similar scheme in Glasgow with the aim of getting individuals or families to help one child in need living in Fife.
With the help of organisations like Fife Young Carers and the Cottage Family Centre, around 750 needy kids were identified.
Alexis Perkins, a teacher at Inzievar, said, “The appeal far exceeded expectations and ended up with 1400 donations, it’s been absolutely huge.
“Our school’s P5 kids decided to get involved by donating gifts for everyone from babies to teenagers – footballs, nail varnish, body spray, gloves, hats, baby toys and clothing, anything and everything really.
“We collected over 50 bags at the school and had five or six other bags of additional donations as well for parents and carers.” The bags were handed over at Dunfermline fire station as the fire service were tasked with collecting and distributing the donations.
