SHIRESMILL Therapy Riding Centre has received £4600 after donations from two oil rigs.

Ian Paterson, the father of Eve, one of the young volunteers at the centre, is employed by the Noble Hans Deul rig. This rig has been working in full operational mode for almost six years and, to celebrate this milestone, the crews wanted to sponsor a worthy charity after raising money through raffles.

Ian nominated Shiresmill for the award and the centre was delighted to be chosen.

The total amount was £4600 and this money, combined with other funds, allows the Shiresmill group to purchase a replacement tractor urgently needed to complete work on the centre’s sensory park and to continue with maintenance of the fields and the yard.

Pictured are Ian and Eve receiving rosettes for the two rigs involved – Shearwater and Noble Hans Deul – as a huge thank you for such an excellent donation.

Two of the ponies – Dughall (grey) and Rio (palomino) are also in the photograph to add their approval.
