THERE was sunny fun for everyone on Saturday as Townhill and Wellwood community councils held a joint Easter event at Townhill’s Loch Cafe area for more than 600 parents, grandparents and children.

The Easter Bunny was on top form, handing out prizes and Easter eggs when not energetically dancing with the children. Community police officers mingled with the crowd, chatting and joking to show there is a lot more to their job than dealing with 999 emergencies.

And the occasional demonstration of their car’s lights and sirens impressed many of the youngsters.

Community council chair Ronnie Cowan said, “Bedlam Promotions provided excellent bouncy castles and generously donated to both councils’ funds, with a number of local companies such as Avenue One hairdressing, Forth Avenue car repairs and the Waterski Centre all donating fantastic raffle prizes.

"A range of stalls were kept busy whilst Doreen from the Loch Cafe seemed to buy most of the raffle tickets on sale, her philanthropy was later rewarded with a good number of prizes!

“Councillors Helen Law, Willie Campbell and David Mogg along with their respective partners all judged the plethora of imaginative Easter bonnets and the many splendidly decorated hard boiled eggs entered into both competitions, they then presented the prizes to each of the three age groups with most artistic accolades being won by the boys!” Members of both community councils worked extremely hard and declared the event a huge success, paying tribute to their teams for producing a traditional community event.

Ronnie added it had “brought so much fun in a friendly outdoor atmosphere to so many children on such a lovely day”, whilst Chris Ingram of Wellwood Community Council thanked everyone for supporting the event.

Ronnie said, “Apologies to those regulars who could not park their cars in the usual areas, but in view of the many children running about it was felt most drivers and dog walkers would understand this temporary precautionary safety restriction.”
