THICK black smoke could be seen for miles across West Fife yesterday (Sunday) as a major blaze ripped through Waulkmill Farm near Crombie.
The Press broke the news last night about the fire, which forced the closure of the A985 between Limekilns and Cairneyhill as it ripped through three barns, farm machinery and straw bales.
Firefighters also removed fertiliser from another building adjacent to the fire.
Three fire engines from Dunfermline and one from Lochgelly raced to the farm after receiving the call-out around 7.40pm.
Nobody was injured in the fire, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said there had been no risk to life, although those in neighbouring properties were advised to stay indoors with their windows shut.
Firefighters spent the next seven hours at the farm, damping down hot spots and potentially combustible straw, with the last crews leaving at 2.45am this morning (Monday).
