YOUR report 'Pub plans refused' (Press, April 13) unfortunately gave an extremely misleading representation of the intentions of the current management at the Bruce Arms in Limekilns.
The planning application referred to in your article was submitted prior to the pub being purchased by myself in July 2016.
The Bruce Arms is a local institution which is highly valued by the community, also playing a vital role in drawing visitors to the village from further afield. Closing the pub would be a huge loss to the village.
Since taking on the pub last year we have worked hard, alongside the community, to invest in the Bruce and ensure it fulfils its role within Limekilns.
It is absolutely not our intention or desire to convert it into flats and I hope to set the record straight and put minds at ease within the village.
Yours sincerely
Stephen Johnson, Landlord
The Bruce Arms
