Aberdour woman Jo Stewart (34) runs healthy diet website www.just4joco.co.uk to help fellow multiple sclerosis sufferers and others to improve their well being.

I finished my last blog full of positives and gratitude to everyone who helped me make my dream a reality.

Before I knew it, I was planning a trip to New Zealand to visit friends and family I have not seen for almost three years!

On my return I find Matt from the Dunfermline Press, chasing me for another blog! What do I write? Blank. Nothing comes...

It was a fantastic holiday, nothing different there. I flew with Emirates who were brilliant, providing fantastic vegetarian, no-dairy meals. Out of 10 served, only one proved not diet-friendly.

Jet lag was quickly recovered. Stopping over in Dubai, the 40 degree temperatures proved nae bother.

Why was I fearing potential consequences of Multiple Sclerosis and travel? Why are people so quick to find reasons to feel sorry for me, or put fear into me?

The most frightening thing that happened was when I needed a letter from my neurologist, saying I was fit enough to travel and did not have one – it serves me right for trying to get an upgrade!

So why did I travel so well? I do not know. Ironically, this journey has proven much easier compared to journeys prior to my diagnosis.

Following the Swank Diet, modified by Professor George Jelinek MD, might have helped, however, even this I am not certain of.

On my return I find an e-mail from the MS Society telling me about awards given to recognise individuals, groups, professionals and volunteers who make a real difference to the lives of those affected by MS in the UK.

I take pleasure in nominating Professor George Jelinek MD. He has been a true inspiration during those most challenging moments, regardless of the fact that he is not based in the UK.

Having potentially found another benefit, it reassures me that if a MS breakthrough has been found, ie Alemtuzumab, I will continue living and sharing the www.just4joco.co.uk example.

I still want to live a long and healthy life, is this too selfish?
