Cash raised for vital research

MAY I thank the people of West Fife who supported the recent prize draw that was held across Fife by the local voluntary groups of the charity Diabetes UK.

The amount raised will be used for research into a cure for diabetes – a condition that is growing at an alarming rate and is not yet fully understood by those not affected by the condition.

The current advertising campaign by the central office of the charity explains just how serious this condition is – it goes under the heading of 'The Silent Assassin' – and if people with diabetes do not take control properly then that is exactly what this condition can be.

I am delighted to report that the total raised within the West Fife area was an exciting £1969 and the total across the whole of Fife was £5474.

Our sincere thanks to all those who contributed so well.

Ross Kerr, area co-ordinator, Diabetes UK Voluntary Groups, Fife
