Politicians must push for better rail service

IAN Paton (Letters, 8th January) surely should not blame First ScotRail for the popularity of Inverkeithing station.
I now often use the recently revamped Markinch station with its additional car park and the extended opening hours of the booking office. This work cost around £6 million.
This saves the hassle of the popular southern Fife stations. By the way, passengers renew their seasons equally, every day of the week, and every week of the year.
Most of the Fife commuters like the reintroduction of the older coaches with tables and the evening train runs fast to Inverkeithing. An improvement for many.
This has allowed Cupar to have two rush-hour non-stop services from Haymarket, again relieving some of the overcrowding on the Fife Circle.
By fellow residents putting pressure on their MSPs and MPs we all might benefit from additional and reintroduced services to Sinclairtown, Cameron Bridge and Methil/Leven. The public want this.
It surely is the responsibility of our elected representatives to drive it forward speedily.
Not endless studies, projects and consultants. Just a half-hourly passenger service 18 hours a day, seven days a week.
