YOU printed an article in last week’s Press regarding gulls being protected under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Living in Dalgety Bay, we are experiencing a huge increase in the amount of magpies living in our gardens. They are vocally very loud.

From dawn till dusk these magpies start calling in such a horrendous, repetitive cackle. It drives you mad.

They disturb our sleep pattern and it is very distressing, especially as most of us have a work routine to cope with.

Magpies are another protected bird under the Wildlife Act, so we are powerless to act and do something about this situation, which is extremely frustrating.

Rare are many of the usual popular species of wild garden birds. There are, though, lots of gulls and pigeons around along with the magpies. These particular birds find a prolific amount of food provided by us for them.

Therefore, it seems, unfortunately, they will be going nowhere else for the foreseeable future.
