Dunfermline 4 Forfar 0
A late double from sub Ryan Wallace and strikes from David Hopkirk and Joe Cardle kept Dunfermline on top of the league as they dismantled sorry Forfar.
Until this campaign, Dick Campbell's men had proved a real bogey side but the Pars have now smashed 11 goals past Rab Douglas in three meetings and haven't conceded any.
The title favourites restored top scorer Faissal El Bakhtaoui to the starting line-up after a hamstring worry and he almost opened the scoring after 80 seconds with a stunning volley.
A free kick was cleared to the edge of the box and the pink-booted hitman watched the ball drop from the sky before hammering it through a crowd of players and past Douglas.
Unfortunately for Dunfermline, Iain Campbell was on sentry duty on the line and hoofed the ball clear.
The first goal wasn't long in coming and it was started and finished by Hopkirk in the eighth minute.
He won a high ball and Cardle's instant pass sent Michael Moffat scurrying in behind the defence. With Forfar looking in vain for an offside flag, Hopkirk ran through and was perfectly placed to accept Moffat's pass and ram the ball into the net.
Forfar's game plan of thumping the ball up to human skyscraper Chris Templeman paid off with a couple of free kicks coming their way from rash challenges from Ben Richards-Everton.
Campbell tried his luck from distance from one of them but although well hit, the full back's 30 yard strike didn't trouble Sean Murdoch in goal.
But Athletic's keeper had to look sharp to palm a Templeman header out of the top corner in 22 minutes and was forced to punch a dangerous Martyn Fotheringham cross away with the Loons' Bryan Hodge poised to strike.
Former Par Derek Young was lucky not to see a card when he scythed down El Bakhtaoui after the whistle had gone and the foul relieved a period of Forfar pressure.
El Bakhtaoui's instant control is an impressive feature of the striker's game - perhaps due to his futsal past - and his quick feet set up Cardle at the back post but the winger was penalised for handball.
A lightning quick break from Dunfermline ripped Forfar open with Cardle's defence-splitting pass releasing Paton. His first time cross was just too heavy for Moffat who stretched but couldn't get a meaningful touch on the ball to beat Douglas.
Slack play from Marc McAusland almost cost Dunfermline with his slip giving Templeman a free run on goal.
Murdoch was out quickly to block with his legs but seconds later the centre back again gave the ball away. Gavin Swankie immediately picked out Templeman at the back post but his downward header bounced wide of the post.
Pars started the second half in more determined fashion but the fans were furious with ref Stephen Finnie after Tam O'Brien chopped down El Bakhtaoui on the edge of the box and no foul was given.
Swankie was allowed to make his way into the box far too easily and Murdoch was thankful the shot was straight into his midriff.
El Bakhtaoui had a couple of blasts at goal that were blocked but they had lost their early rhythm and there was growing unease in the stands.
A trademark drop of the shoulder in 55 minutes saw Cardle beat his man and advance into the box but O'Brien threw himself in front of the shot to save Forfar.
Jason Talbot swung in an excellent cross that Moffat just couldn't reach and fabulous control from El Bakhtaoui gave him a sight of goal but his effort was deflected for a corner.
They got the crucial second goal in the 63rd minute and it was a personal disaster for former Scotland keeper Douglas.
The Forfar veteran dropped Andy Geggan's cross from the right and Cardle accepted the gift and thumped the ball into the net.
The winger had netted a hat-trick in the last meeting with Forfar and was clearly in the mood, latching on to Lewis Martin's inch perfect pass and whistling a drive narrowly past the post.
Allan Johnston swapped both his strikers, giving Ryan Wallace and Mickael Antoine-Curier the last 20 minutes for Moffat and El Bakhtaoui.
Hopkirk stepped in from the wing to test Douglas and the two subs then combined, Wallace chipping the ball in for Antoine-Curier to head at Douglas.
Wallace grabbed the third goal in 75 minutes when Shaun Byrne threaded the ball through the Loons defence and he picked his spot before hammering it past Douglas.
The little striker sent a free kick inches over the bar and the impressive Hopkirk forced Douglas into another smart save as Dunfermline went fork the jugular.
Wallace netted again in the 84th minute after checking inside and rifling a 25 yard drive beyond the keeper's despairing dive and into the corner of the net.
