THE PARS have been handed a tough trip to League One rivals Ayr United in the Scottish Cup after the third round draw was made at Hampden this morning.
Allan Johnston's table-toppers will tackle Ian McCall's second placed Honest Men on 28th November at Somerset Park before returning for a crucial league match 14 days later.
Dunfermline, who were beaten 2-0 by Ayr in September at East End Park, can point to success against their rivals the last time the teams met in this competition.
After a 1-1 draw at Somerset in the 2013/2014 tournament, Ryan Thomson's goal ensured a 1-0 win in the replay for the Pars in the fourth round, before they went on to lose to Rangers at Ibrox.
