DUNFERMLINE Carnegie Hockey Club’s second XI have been promoted as champions to the Premier East Division.
The squad was the strongest Carnegie have had for many years at that level, recording a club record for goals scored in a season of 121 and conceding just 17 and remaining unbeaten in their 20 matches, winning 19.
Next season will be a challenge but with the success of all four men’s teams this season, the club now has great strength in depth and plans to start a fifth team, Carnegie Colts, to further help youngsters from the youth programme make the transition into senior hockey.
This season saw the club return to being based – after a near 25-year absence – back in Dunfermline at Woodmill High, and has seen a significant increase in membership at youth and adult level.
The club’s Gordon Johnstone explained: “Next season promises to be very interesting but our youth programme continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Woodmill High 5.30 to 7pm for ages five to 14.”
