FORMER Pars defender Jordan McMillan is training with the club, Allan Johnston has revealed.

The 28-year-old full back has been granted training facilities at East End as he seeks a route back into football when his 23-month drugs ban expires next month.

McMillan was banned from all competitive sport for two years in December 2014 after he tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, after playing for Partick Thistle against Celtic that month.

He had moved to Firhill after being made redundant by the Pars when they plunged into administration in March 2013, and helped the Glasgow club secure the First Division title.

Confirming that McMillan is training with his squad, Johnston said: "We’ve got a big squad, he’s in training just now and that’s as far as it goes."

Former Rangers trainee McMillan signed for Dunfermline in 2012 during their failed battle against relegation from the SPL.

He was appointed as captain by then manager Jim Jefferies for the 2012/13 campaign but he, along with 10 team-mates, were released as the club hurtled towards financial oblivion.

After failing the drug test McMillan, who claimed that his drink was spiked, was soon suspended and then sacked by Partick in February 2015 following an internal investigation into the incident.

In September last year, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) confirmed that the player was to be suspended for a two-year period from December 18 2014 to December 17 2016, but the ban was reduced by a month in August following an appeal to the National Anti-Doping Panel.

During his time with Dunfermline, McMillan made 43 appearances, scoring twice.
