GOAL hero Michael Moffat didn't even know he had gone ton up against the 'Ton but was delighted to mark the occasion with what he hopes is a luck-changing double.

The Pars hitman, 31, grabbed his third and fourth goals of the season to secure the points against Morton in what was his 100th game since joining from Ayr United in the summer of 2014.

Since hitting 27 goals for the Honest Men in the season before his arrival in West Fife, goals have been harder to comeby for Moffat but he hopes Saturday's match-winning performance will herald a change in fortune - even if he was denied the man of the match prize.

Sean Murdoch claimed the sponsors accolade and Moffat laughed: "I'll be having words with him – the penalty save probably done it! He was due a save and it was a big moment in the game. We are up to seventh now but it is quite tight; two or three wins in this league and you will jump up it. We just need to try and reign in the teams above us.

"I didn't even know that (it was his 100th Pars appearance) until I seen the programme and somebody mentioned it, so aye, it was nice to get a couple of goals and a win. We have not had too much luck in front of goal in the last few weeks so it was nice for us to get it for a change.

"Before that the penalty save was important. When you go behind in this league it is tough to come back, so it is always good to get the first goal."

A terrific afternoon for Moffat, preferred to start alongside Nicky Clark ahead of Farid El Alagui by Allan Johnston, was almost complete with a dream hat-trick but his treble was burst by an outstanding stop from Morton keeper Derek Gaston.

He continued: "He saved it with his feet. I told him if his feet were not as big it would have gone in!

"They are a big, strong, powerful team that scores a lot of their goals from set-pieces because of their height. We knew that it would be a battle but I think we competed well. In this league sometimes you just need to dig it out and that is what we did. It possibly wasn't the best performance but it is all about getting the points.

"We have a big game down at Queens next week. If we win we go above them, so it is a good incentive."
