DUNFERMLINE Athletic have warned supporters they will not tolerate "unacceptable conduct" after three visiting supporters were charged for setting off flares at East End Park.

The club issued a statement in response to Police Scotland confirming that three men aged 16 from the Hamilton area were charged with culpable and reckless conduct following the Pars' Scottish Cup tie with Hamilton Academical last month.

At least two smoke devices were set off amongst the visiting supporters in the East Stand during the game – including after Daniel Redmond's equaliser for Accies – and officers quickly identified three teenagers in relation to the incidents.

In response, an Athletic statement read: "DAFC has been informed that Police Scotland have charged three men aged 16 from the Hamilton area with culpable and reckless conduct.

"The incident occurred at the Scottish Cup tie between Dunfermline Athletic and Hamilton Academical on Saturday 11th February where a number of smoke devices were set off in the East Stand of the ground.

"Thankfully nobody was injured during this incident. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

"Dunfermline Athletic must adhere stringently to the SPFL’s unacceptable policy rules. Any person engaging in unacceptable conduct may be subject to any, or a combination of, the following: Removal from the stadium; Suspension from attending official matches involving the club; Indefinite ban from attending official matches involving the club; A report to the police and possible criminal proceedings.

"Dunfermline Athletic FC accepts its responsibility under these rules and simply will not tolerate any form of unacceptable conduct at matches, and hope the action of the police will act as a deterrent to anyone else carrying such devices into East End Park or any other football stadium."

Following the game, the teams met in Hamilton three days later for a replay, where Athletic were knocked out of the competition after losing a penalty shoot-out.
