THE PARS followed a dreadful home defeat to Ayr with a surprise win at high-flying Morton last week, a result that keeps them away from the relegation whirlpool ahead of title-favourites Hibernian’s visit on Saturday.

The bookmakers price the match up as Hibs 5/6, a draw 5/2 and the Pars 15/4 (Hills).

This is a tough one, not least because the bookmakers have now noticed both sides’ propensity to draw games.

The Hibs price looks decent at first glance but prior to last night’s match at Morton, they have won only 16 games out of 29.

On the flip side, the Edinburgh outfit have lost only three times, so the 15/4 that Dunfermline do the business does not really appeal either.

Keeping your money in the pocket is the way to go here.

Prediction: Dunfermline 1 Hibernian 1.

At the time of writing, Hibernian are 1/40 to win the title, with Morton 33/1 and Falkirk 40/1.

The finishing bottom prices are much more interesting, particularly if you took the column’s advice to back Ayr at 10/1. The Honest Men are now 6/4, Dumbarton 13/8, St Mirren 9/4, Raith 14/1 and Dunfermline 25/1.

The Scottish Premiership action begins on Friday night, where Dundee welcome Aberdeen to Dens Park (BT Sport 1, 7.45pm).

The Dons have over-achieved in splitting the Old Firm sides and they are 8/13 to win this game and cement second place in the table.

The Dark Blues are 5/1 and a draw 3/1 (Betway).

The only other live game takes place at Sunday lunchtime, featuring Hearts and Celtic (Sky Sports 2, 12.30pm).

The Bhoys are 1/2 (Betway), a stalemate 19/5 (Betfred/Betvictor) and the Jambos are 13/2 (Boylesports) to be the team that inflicts Celtic’s first league defeat of the season.

Like the Championship, the most interesting long-term market in the Premiership is who will finish bottom.

Hamilton have the unwanted accolade of being favourites at 6/5 (Stan James), Inverness are 14/5 (Betvictor), Motherwell 9/2 (Betfred/Bet365),  Ross County 12/1, Kilmarnock 16/1 (Betvictor) and Dundee 22/1 (Skybet/Betvictor).
