DISABILITY sport athletes from West Fife are preparing for a busy weekend of action on the road, on the greens and in the pool.

While talented wheelchair racer Callum Sloan will compete in his third London mini marathon on today, a number of swimmers from Disability Sport Fife were seeking to make waves in the pool yesterday in Grangemouth.

Carnegie’s Ollie Carter, and InCAS trio Cara Smyth, Kirsty Brunton and Cameron Hemphill, will all be in action at the 2017 Scottish Senior Championship for Physically Disabled and Sensory Impaired Swimmers.

The event, organised by Scottish Disability Sport (SDS), will see Cameron compete as a junior guest and the West Fife quartet will have their eyes on medals and personal bests.

As well as that event, Dunfermline’s Maria Spencer and Cowdenbeath Bowling Club’s Billy Allan, born in Dunfermline, will be part of the Scotland para-bowls team that will travel to Wales for the Home Nations Para Bowls tournament this weekend.

The competition, which is being held in Newport, will see the West Fifers – together with Barbara McMillan (Cowdenbeath), Martin Hunter (Burntisland) and Michael Simpson (Auchtermuchty) – try to defend the title that they won in Glasgow last year when they make the journey south today (Thursday).
