THE silver jack at Headwell Bowling Club was thrown last Saturday as they marked the beginning of the outdoor season.
Yvonne Gray, daughter of president Alfie Falconer, started proceedings ahead of a busy weekend of action at the Shamrock Street club.
The Headwell team championship was played for on Saturday and saw seven teams – Falkirk, Perth, East Fife, Abbeyview, East Lothian, West Lothian and Teviotdale – join the hosts, with the final taking place between East Lothian and Abbeyview.
The West Fife team missed out on victory as their counterparts from across the Forth took the honours, and that was followed by the club’s indoor singles and pairs events.
In the gents’ events, J J Watson defeated B Scott in the singles, R McLaughlin got the better of D Waite in the senior final while in the two-bowl pairs final, B Scott took the honours ahead of D Duncan.
The ladies’ singles saw Sarah Ewing defeat Eleanor Kennedy, the latter of whom teamed up with Kaye Cullinan to win the pairs final, while L Cook and E Wishart won the senior pairs final.
