GYMNASTS from Acrobay flew the flag for Scotland recently and brought home medals from the 2017 Acrobatic Inter Regional Competition in Southampton.

A total of 27 members from the Rosyth-based club represented their country at the event, with their silver and bronze gongs helping the Scottish team to a second place finish overall.

They were selected for the Scotland team on the strength of their medal-winning performances at the Scottish Championships back in March and they joined more than 160 Acrobatic Gymnastics partnerships from eight regions across the UK at the two-day event from April 29-30.

The following Acrobay partnerships formed part of the 53-strong Scottish delegation: Dylan Morrison & Zoe Gracie (Grade 1 Mixed Pairs); Emma Tait & Ruby Cunningham (Grade 1 Women’s Pairs); Catherine Hillis & Emma Nelson (Grade 2 Women’s Pairs); Kirsty Cochrane & Hannah Johnston (Grade 3 Women’s Pairs); Caitlin Richardson & Chloe Chadha; Nicole Paltiel, Annaleece Simrick & Melissa Parris; Mia Logan, Aimee Arnott & Poppy Jones (Grade 3 Women’s Groups); Eve Ormiston & Eilidh Park (Grade 4 Women’s Pairs); Abby Paveling, Abby Martindale & Ruth Carson; Olivia Keir, Erin Bailey & Caitlin Mitchell (Grade 4 Women’s Groups); and Rosie Jasper, Emma Hunking & Ava-Violet Daglish (Grade 5 Women’s Groups).

All 11 Acrobay partnerships gave impressive performances over an action-packed weekend and their combined scores helped ensure a solid second place for Scotland in the Team Trophy competition.

In addition, there were well-deserved silver medals for Dylan & Zoe and Kirsty & Hannah and bronze for Abby, Abby & Ruth and Catherine & Emma.

Delighted coach Claire Bailey said: “Our gymnasts were amazing and we’re all proud of them. From their great behaviour throughout the weekend to their beautiful performances on the competition floor, they were all great ambassadors for Acrobay and for Scottish Gymnastics.”
