A TRIO of Acrobay Gymnastics Club stars won silver medals at the British Gymnastics Champions Series.

Held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, a total of 11 Acrobay gymnasts represented Scotland at one of the biggest competitions in the British acrobatic gymnastics calendar.

The event attracted top performers from across the UK and featured four days of performances, showcasing a range of skills covering acrobatic, aerobic, team gym and rhythmic gymnastics.

Four partnerships from the Rosyth club’s FIG (international) team formed part of the contingent, representing Scotland in the acrobatic gymnastics section and competing alongside British, European and World champions.

They were: Katie Halliwell, Deanna Canny-Armitt & Melissa Dewar, Rebecca Stewart, Ellie Horstmann & Scarlett Haldane (all Age 11-16 women’s groups), Taylor Wilson & Amy Middleton (Age 12-18 women’s pairs) and Sacha Muir, Erin Henderson & Chloe Rowlands (Age 13-19 women’s groups).

All partnerships performed Balance and Dynamic routines in the qualifying rounds, with a third routine required for those reaching the finals.

Sacha Muir, Erin Henderson and Chloe Rowlands recorded their highest ever score and picked up silver medals. All four Acrobay partnerships performed well with three making the finals.

Suzanne Fraser, head coach, said: “This was the last major competition of the season and what we’ve been working towards all year. The series is a massive event which showcases gymnasts at the very top of their game and it was so good to see Acrobay gymnasts standing shoulder to shoulder with the very best of Britain. I’m so proud.”
