THE Pars' progress appears relentless at present and the Championship table-toppers continue their programme with a trip to Morton on Saturday afternoon.

The Ton have made an indifferent start to their season and only have half the Pars’ points total from their four matches. Nevertheless, the bookmakers make the Cappielow outfit marginal favourites: Morton are 6/4, the Pars 15/8 and a draw 5/2. This is an awkward fixture but Dunfermline’s form makes them impossible to ignore.

Prediction: Morton 0 Dunfermline 1.

Celtic travel to New Douglas Park tomorrow (Friday) night (BT Sport 1) and are 1/4 to see off hosts Hamilton Academical.

The Accies have got off to a decent start and victory at 12/1 would see them draw level with the Bhoys in the league standings. A stalemate is priced up at 11/2.

Rangers entertain Dundee in a Saturday 3pm game and are 1/3 to collect the three points. The Dark Blues are 11/1 (Bet365), while a draw is 9/2 (Betfred).

Metaphorically speaking, the bookmakers’ prices are on the other foot when Celtic commence their Champions League group campaign on Tuesday. The Bhoys host Paris Saint-Germain (BT Sport 3, 7.45pm) and the odds available are identical to the Hamilton fixture but with Celtic as outsiders. Thus PSG are 1/4, a draw 11/2 and Celtic 12/1.

The prices for the Group B winners suggest a two-horse race: Bayern Munich are 10/11 (Betfred), PSG evens (Hills/Coral) and both Celtic and Anderlecht 100/1 (Bwin and Bet365 respectively).

The UK’s favourite American sport, NFL, begins on Thursday and New England are fancied to repeat last season’s achievements and claim the Superbowl LII crown. The Patriots are 4/1, Green Bay 10/1, Seattle and Pittsburgh 11/1, Dallas 14/1, Atlanta 16/1, Oakland 18/1, New York Giants 25/1 and then it is 28/1 and bigger the remainder.

At the very bottom of the pile are New York Jets, at 500/1. The reality is the Jets are in rebuilding mode and any bets on them should be based around failure. One such option is to back under their season points at 275, priced at 8/5 (Coral). The hapless Jets got to exactly 275 last year but that was by winning five games. This year’s version will do well to win two and their offence is substantially inferior to last year’s product.

Tip: Back New York Jets season points under 275 at 8/5 (Coral).
