GOAL hero James Craigen has urged his “buzzing” Pars mates to follow up their “must-win” success on Tuesday with another this weekend.

The midfielder hit the net for the first time since joining the club in January to ensure Dunfermline ended a run of seven games without a win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and revitalise their play-off ambitions.

They’re now just four points behind fourth-top Greenock Morton – who visit East End tomorrow – having played a game fewer and Craigen says Athletic need a repeat performance against a team they’ve yet to beat this season.

“I’m delighted to score but the most important thing is the three points,” he said.

“It’s another must-win game on Saturday and we need to recover, recharge ourselves and put in another performance like we did on Tuesday.

“Everyone was doom and gloom on Saturday at five o’clock after the result but, 48 hours later, the table looks promising and you’re thinking we’re right in this and that we’ve got a great chance of getting top four.

“’But it’s not going to be easy. Morton aren’t going to give up that position easily at all so we’ve got to go and get the three points.

“The lads are buzzing in there but we just need to keep going now.

“Let’s go on a run.”

Tuesday’s game was the first in which Craigen, 26, had tasted victory in Pars colours since signing from Falkirk but he never doubted that they would bring what has been a difficult run to an end.

He now hopes they can keep it going against a Morton side who have won three of four league and cup meetings between the teams this season – all of which featured decisive goals in the final five minutes.

“The Scottish Cup was a tight game and they scored in the last five minutes and, again, in the last minute away from home a couple of weeks later, so I think we’re due a victory over them,” Craigen continued.

“But I think a win has been coming. We were off form on Saturday but, in the games before that, we were solid and probably deserved to win down at Queen of the South and at Livingston.

“In recent games, we’ve been having chances but, as you can see probably in the second half, we created a lot more and probably should have scored more. We more than deserved the three points.”
