Dunfermline and Dundee United meet this evening at Tannadice in what is effectively a cup-final to determine who reaches the play-off semi-final tie against Livingston.

The Pars have a poor recent record against the Terrors, having not beaten them in 14 matches but there were only two points between them in the standings and the first leg result indicates this should not be as one sided as that statistic suggests.

The bookmakers price the match up as follows; Dundee United 5/4 (Betvictor/Hills), a draw 13/5 (Betfred) and Dunfermline 12/5 (Boylesports).

The Tangerines are 4/7 to progress to the next round, the Pars 13/10 (Betfair Sportsbook).

Dunfermline had to play most of the second half of the first leg with ten men and unless the same fate befalls one of the teams in this game, it is hard to look beyond an extremely tight contest.

Prediction: Dundee United 1 Dunfermline 1 (Dunfermline to win on a penalty shoot-out).

The other play-off ties take place tomorrow afternoon and Raith Rovers, who finished 15 points above opponents Alloa, find themselves 2-0 down and in some trouble ahead of their second leg clash at Stark’s Park.

Betvictor price the game up as Raith 1/2, a draw 10/3 and Alloa 11/2.

At present there are no ‘to qualify’ prices up but if you fancy Raith to overcome the deficit, Coral offer a Raith -1 handicap (that would take the tie into extra time) at 7/5 and a Raith -2 handicap at 18/5.

Dumbarton are 2-1 up on Arbroath as they bid to keep their Championship status and the second leg prices are the Sons 11/10 (Betvictor), the Red Lichties 5/2 (Betvictor) and a draw 13/5 (Bet365).

Dropping down a division, Queen’s Park are evens (Betvictor) to beat and therefore progress past Stenhousemuir; a draw is 11/4 (Betvictor) and Stenny 29/10 (Bet365).

Peterhead are in control of their tie with Stirling and are 7/20 (Betway) to add to their 1-0 first leg lead, Albion are 17/2 (Betvictor) and a stalemate 22/5 (Betvictor).
